Hong Kong's got World's Attention. What's Next?!!

Hong Kong's Occupy Central protest or the Umbrella Revolution has made its appearance on the international media, including here in Latin America. But this is not a war. This is a long journey of revolution which requires long-term strategy. Universal Suffrage is not going to solve the social problem and discontent. Learn from the mistakes and tragedies of Venezuela and many latin american countries. Hong Kong has yet created a strong political leader. Attention-seeking is not a what a smart free-rider would do.

International coverage on Hong Kong's Protest (Spanish).

El País (Spain)

La Nación (Argentina)

Hong Kong Protest Alternative Views

Since there's no Hongkongers in nor do I think anyone would be interested in a small place like Hong Kong over here in this continent, I feel an urge to express my alternative views towards this Occupy Central, or Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong that has been going on since September 22, 2014.

"When dictatorship becomes a fact, revolution becomes a duty." Yet, after making a mere appearance on the international media, some innovation is necessary to take the revolution to the next level. Politics aside, China has massive capital and linkages across the pillar economic sectors of Hong Kong. CY Leung is nothing more than Beijing's puppet, Li Ka-shing and his fellow tycoons are the real big players. The city of Hong Kong is waiting for new real leaders like Jack Ma. And shall we not forget about the forgotten, that 1/5 of us, 1.3 Million of Hongkongers are still living in dire poverty and cage homes under the Chinese regime. What are we actually fighting for? Power or equality?

Our enemy is the 'inexplicable fear' inside us towards the super power. Democracy is not the panecea of social-economic problems, just look at Venezuela and Argentina. How many of us Hongkoners are actually working something substantial on maximizing our opportunities and lowering the risk for the pursuit of a better quality of life and social and economic sustainability in the place we call home?

More scattered demostrations are taking the Hong Kong nowhere whilst all potential leaders of the town are hiding in their own comfort zone. Occupy Central, or the Umberella Revolution, like any other protests, will lose international attention in no time. The journey of revolution has just started and it will be a long way to go. Get busy, please, my fellow Hongkoners. And please, we don't need to spread more hatred.

When I Grow Old I Want To Be Like Chico Buarque

When I grow old, I want to be like Chico Buarque. I want to look myself in the mirror and see a pair of eyes like those of Chico Buarque, with a warm light that shines behind them. Having been existed in the earth for 70 years, those pair of sparkling sapphires are those in which passion prevails and emotion still lusters, profound like the sea of wisdom.

Chico buarque eyes

Life is yet to be completed

I have made a good fight,
I have come to the end of my journey,
I have kept the faith.

II Timothy 4:7

Siquiera = just/only (tan solo) in this case.

admitir = accept
admitirse = admit

So the whole phrase would mean: if he'd even admit it.

Marijuana is Legal in Uruguay

On the other side of the world, marijuana is not a drug.
One of those things in life which we thought we have a clear understanding yet it's nothing but a preconception.

Maldives is disappearing. Let's Chill Out.

I find it very difficult to go and have a beer with people who've got that "yeah gotta go there quick" thought first come to their mind when realizing Maldives is disappearing. It's unfortunately not a way to chill out. It only gives me more stress.

And yet pathetically there are so many people of this kind in Hong Kong. It's like yeah Maldives will be lost due to the climate change, let's just chill out.

I'm kind of looking forward to go back to Buenos Aires, yes, the mega-city where there's a water shortage practically all year round.

The Forgotten

There is a part of our society that is worth more attention from the people and our media.

Those adventure travellers have long been given the crown of bravery and courage. Let's not forget the homeless trembling in the wild cold one side of the planet and the true heroes in the sweatshops on the other. They are here too to share this planet and enjoy the beautiful things that the earth and the human kind have to offer.

If I have to work in the marketing and media industry, I shall strive to advocate the value of humanity and give voice to the forgotten.

Word of Wisdom from a 70-year-old

Two cents from my Argentinean housemate. I thought they are gold.

1. Keep promises to kids.

2. A real hug is one without patting the other's back.

Eason Chan 苦瓜 Bitter Melon | Cantonese Lyrics English Translation

Bitter Melon - Eason Chan

Wyman Wong
Composer:Kenix Cheang@Private Zoo

The monent we clink our glasses, we exchange looks and smile, relishing the savour of the plate

Perhaps things are meant to be difficult until the right moment comes

Just like that day when she turned you down

Not until then did you realize how to forget and to forgive

What I used to call trouble at work, now that I look back, that's not even a thing.

How we used not to appreciate bitter melon

Everyday it tastes more and more like wisdom

Live on with the ordeal of bitterness, scatter seeds in the extreme

Bitterness and sweetness complement each other

Whatever I wanted when I was young, I wanted it quick and instant

Why bother appreciating delicacy and simplicity?

Later I came to appreciate the patience to swallow, to digest, and the art of tea infusion

After all bitterness is not that bad when shared

I am having a new start of my life, I realized that it was not the end of the world

embracing the moments of bitterness followed by happiness, goodness after evilness, like masterpieces of art

I used to be indifferent listening to oldies, not shedding a tear

unenthusiastic to the details of the wood carved altar

yet everything became clear in that night of solitude late in autumn, while the golden leaves had fallen

Can we live a life without bitterness?

How we used to stay away from bitter melon

But what is to be avoided from once you have comprehended the theory of everything?

Tranquility prevails as bitterness fades

Thousand flavours are gone but the essence of experience stays

I recall some naming it 'half-mature gourd'

Doesn't it symbolize the immaturity and the ignorance in the younger days?

Everything clears out in golden hour, under the red dusk

Bitterness does not seem that bad when it's shared with you

Pronunciación mandarín: wei-ji; cantonés: ngai-gei

危 significa peligro, sencillamente.
